Overview

As part of a comprehensive project, I designed a range of solutions for quick-service restaurants and malls, including web apps, mobile apps, and self-service kiosks. The project balanced templated solutions for scalability with custom designs tailored to the needs of high-profile clients like Burger King, Popeye's Chicken, and Riyadh Mall.

Problem

The client aimed to enhance customer experiences across diverse environments, from bustling food courts to standalone quick-service restaurants. They needed a scalable yet customizable system that supported self-service, multilingual interfaces, and varied user needs, including height and accessibility considerations.

My Role

As a core member of the design team, I:

  • Designed for multiple platforms, including web, mobile, and self-service kiosks.

  • Created templated solutions for scalability while delivering custom designs for high-profile clients.

  • Worked on ergonomic and accessibility challenges, such as height adjustments and right-to-left (RTL) language support.

  • Collaborated with stakeholders to ensure designs aligned with business goals and brand guidelines.

Design Process

1. Research & Discovery:

  • Conducted on-site observations and interviews to understand diverse customer behaviors across restaurants and malls.

  • Identified unique needs, such as multilingual support for Riyadh Mall and high-throughput demands for Burger King and Popeye’s Chicken.

2. Iterative Design:

  • Developed scalable templates to streamline deployment while allowing customization for client branding and specific workflows.

  • Designed adaptive layouts for kiosks, accommodating users of different heights and accessibility requirements.

  • Integrated RTL support for clients in the Middle East.


Outcome

The project resulted in:

  • Successful deployment across multiple clients, including high-profile brands like Burger King and Popeye's Chicken.

  • A 30% reduction in average queue times and 95% customer satisfaction with kiosk usability.

  • Simplified rollout of templated solutions for global scalability.
